Logistics Modernization (Log Mod) is the largest coordinated and cross-organizational transformation effort ever undertaken to transform Marine Corps logistics. Through Log Mod, IR Tech assisted the Marine Corps to address existing logistics shortfalls as well as the future vision of 2015. The majority of the transformation objectives focused on providing near real time, more consistent and higher quality information for logistics planners and operators. The transformation envisioned a modernized integrated and streamlined logistics chain built to deliver precision distribution capabilities and modernize supply and maintenance functionality. The success of the entire effort is built on a sharp, effective data management program. In order to meet the needs of the war fighter and support the ever increasing demand for interoperability, it is essential to transform data into decision making information. Data Management must be managed data that is addressed as a strategic asset across the enterprise. Our goal is to pursue a manageable data management program to enable a COTS solution, designed to provide logistics operators, planners and the War fighters at the joint and Marine Corps levels, a fused, integrated, near real-time accurate logistics picture, thereby enabling visibility into and control of the logistics pipeline. Our strategy is to maximize electronic collaboration, visibility, use of joint decision support tools, and autonomous and real-time updates. With refined near real time information, Commanders and staff at every level have access to a logistics pipeline and are able to analyze logistics data from which to make confident and informed decisions. The situational awareness and execution strategies will be maximized based on fully functional and robust data management capabilities. Distribution priorities and procedures will be improved and the pipeline will deliver material resources as required and where requested.
